About Us

In 2005 the Tomball Renewal Center (TRC) was founded as a shelter and support for abandoned women and children. Although they worked towards completion, financing was a challenge and eventually they voted in an entirely new board and executive director in 2013.

Aaron Edwards and a new Board began to envision and pray toward a community center that inspired spiritual growth while also living out our calling to give dignity and care to the downtrodden. In 2015, TRC purchased the building at 416 W Main Street in Old Town Tomball and remodeled it with the hope of a bustling building we could all take ownership of as “our place.” The purpose of TRC turned from being a shelter to a home away from home that hosts groups and workshops to support those seeking a safe place to work out their past, to heal from addiction, have a healthy meal regardless of ability to pay, and on a case by case basis have access to practical support for low income/emergency care, and have a community to belong to.

TRC offers 1-1 pastoral care, chaplaincy, and spiritual direction, and can help people connect to social services when needed. We have weekly groups and seasonal workshops focused around recovery and spiritual growth that all are welcome to attend, as well as a Sunday morning church hosted down the street at Main Street Crossing.

Our work is honest, hopeful, and inspires the individual to go deeper with God, self, and community. As part of the vision to help rebuild lives, TRC created small social enterprises to help people reenter the job force for those post incarceration or rehab stay, who have chronic or hidden illness, or who are ready to make a change in their current life circumstance.

Re:Bar Cafe and Juicestillery has become the sweetheart of Tomball, bringing people together near and far around a 100% gluten free menu. Re:Bar is how we interface with the “world out there,” welcoming people from all walks of life through our red doors into a dream bigger than any one of us can achieve on our own.

God’s dream.

We hope to see you in one of our conversation circles soon.

Aaron Edwards

As an ordained minister for 20 years, I have experienced much beauty from pastoring a diverse community of fellow sojourners navigating through life with all the beauty and grief that it can bring. My role in this community is to help people access a long forgotten truth about their own identity. As accessible as this truth is to everyone, it takes some brave work to get there, and no one gets there by themselves.  It takes community, and a willingness to take a good honest look at the ways we’ve sabotaged ourselves.

“My heart is to walk people through this process in both individual and group settings.  This can look like leading 12 step groups and enneagram workshops, one on one pastoral counseling, walking people through their grief work, encouraging people who have become disillusioned by their faith and belief structures, and living in my calling to follow Christ by telling the good news to the poor and participating in setting captives free.”

Executive Director, Pastor

Kelly Hall

I joined TRC’s Board of Directors in 2013, and grew from a full-time volunteer in October of 2015 to a co-Director position early in 2016 where I worked co-creatively to envision the community center, Steampunk Juice, and Re:Bar Cafe.

I became an ordained Chaplain in 2016, and a certified Spiritual Director in 2022, with a desire to help people connect to God and awaken to their soul work with hope that we may all do our part in the healing of the world. As a creative writer and make-shift artist, I love to encourage expression (no training required!) and bring years of study and practice with the enneagram and contemplative prayer.

Spiritual Direction (as a title) can sound like you are going in to a spiritual advisor who is going to give you some answers, however in reality my job is sitting with someone who is committed to practicing their way toward hearing the still small voice within, noticing both where they are and where God is in relation to life’s ups and downs, and waking up their God-given gifts.

I consider it an honor to work with anyone ready, willing, and roll up their sleeves to do the work.

Hi everyone, I am Anita, the General Manager of Re:Bar Cafe, the love project of The Renewal Center, that has turned into a fully operational cafe serving Tomball and anyone who comes to visit.

My involvement with The Renewal Center began in 2015, when we were given the gift of a non-profit entity and the seed of a vision for its future. I was honored to be a part of the exciting times that followed with a group of people who were ready to let God’s dream unfold.

In 2018, after 18 years as an Early Childhood Educator, I started managing Re:Bar Cafe, when it became apparent that we needed someone to take that role as our little cafe became more popular.

I love every aspect of my role here. I particularly love getting to know our regular customers, meeting new people every day, and seeing our staff work together so seamlessly.

RE:Bar and The Renewal Center have brought me so much fulfillment and purpose and there is never a doubt that I am where I belong.
